Machine in Hand on the Professional Weaver Society podcast!

Back in June, I chatted with Teagan and Eric Frisino of Comfort Cloth Weaving on their podcast, the Professional Weaver Society. I met Teagan and Eric in person at the ACC craft show in Baltimore in February of this year and we hit it off. They are dedicated to bringing weavers together to share knowledge and have carved out space for a new conversation on weaving. We chatted about production weaving, the venn diagram of craft and art, how weaving has impacted our bodies, and how to keep moving forward. Listen here!

American Craft Council feature in August/September 2020 Beauty issue

Machine in Hand was featured in the August/September 2020 Beauty issue of American Craft magazine. Check it out here. Some of the highlights were revisiting fiber artist Xenobia Bailey's work after studying it in college, and hearing a bigger picture story than instagram can tell on the ochre searching work of Heidi Gustafson.  I've been loving the new design of American Craft and ease of reading. They are digging into all sorts of topics relating to craft, and I'm happy to see this!

Custom Bed Runner in Royal Purple and Lime

This custom bed runner project was a welcome change of pace this spring. A bed runner, or bed scarf, is a nice evolution from my table runners: larger scale allows for more pattern-making ability, and lots of room to follow the path of this weaving. Here is the finished piece on a bed. Made with American cotton, it has a lovely drape, and bold colors to highlight a cozy room.
